Instructors
This year's group of 11 instructors was selected from a pool of over 50 applicants.

Chris

Chris
Chris Wilkens is a junior at MIT studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In addition to his classes, he is heavily involved in the Christian community at MIT.

Dan

Dan
Daniel Ramage of Westfield, NJ graduated from MIT in 2004 with an S.B. in Computer Science and an S.B. in Mathematics. He worked the following year at IBM's Zurich Research Lab on machine learning applications to medical and business data. Daniel is currently studying for a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Stanford University.

humberto

Humberto
Humberto is currently a sophmore at MIT. Originally from Juarez, Mexico, just south of the U.S.-Mexico border, he moved with his mother to El Paso, Texas when he was nine years old. At MIT he studies Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Humberto lives off campus in his fraternity, Zeta Beta Tau, where he can usually be found fixing something, breaking something, setting something on fire, or just generally causing meyhem with his brothers.

Jon

Jon
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Jon Varsanik received a B.S. in Physics and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) from MIT in 2005 and received his Masters of Engineering in EECS this year. Next year, he will attend MIT to work towards a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. Once a swimmer, Jon has now taken up volleyball and enjoys weightlifting, singing, and working on his motorcycle.

Liv

Liv
Liv was born in the Philippines and moved to the US when she was nine years old. She studied Mechanical Engineering at MIT and Computer Science at UC Berkeley and has worked most recently at Akamai Technologies as a customer consultant.

Marta

Marta
Marta Luczynska, born in Poland but currently living in the wonderful state of New Jersey, is a fourth year undergraduate studying Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Next year, she will be pursuing her Masters of Engineering at MIT developing a new approach to SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) and then heading off to Africa to work on international development projects.

Michael

Michael
Michael is an MBA student at MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to MIT Sloan he was an Investment Banker at Morgan Stanley in London. He has also been involved in a number of consulting projects for small and medium sized companies and non-profits. Michael earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh, UK. He is also a qualified ski instructor and table tennis coach.

Nune

Nune
Nune is a sophomore in Brain and Cognitive Sciences and EECS. She grew up in Yerevan, Armenia, and moved to Alaska in 1998. In addition to classes, Nune volunteers as an EMT for the MIT ambulance and works as a tutor for freshman math classes. Nune also recently got married!

Paul

Paul
Paul Ojanen is Class of 2000, Course 6, and works part-time for a software startup in the public safety sector. He has taught computer science and lots of math at middle-school summer camps and is currently working towards a Master's in Mathematics for Teaching from Harvard Extension School.

Shahid

Shahid
Shahid Rashid grew up in central Illinois and has spent the last seven years in the San Francisco Bay area obtaining a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering and working for Cisco Systems and local startups. He enjoys snowboarding and rock climbing, and he also spent a summer traveling in Brazil.

Shelly

Shelly
Shelly Manber is a sophomore at MIT in theoretical mathematics with experience teaching and tutoring mathematics with high school students. Beyond academics, she enjoys dancing, cross country running, and community service.
